The University of California, Irvine is one of the nation’s foremost public research institutions. Though the most popular areas of study are computer science, biological sciences, and psychology, UCI offers more than 80 majors and 77 minors. It is home to the nation’s first school of social ecology, as well as The Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation—a program that targets inequality through education, research, and innovative practices. In addition to the California Dream Act, the university provides several scholarships and grants, including the Regent’s Scholarships for incoming freshmen with high academic standing.
