Epidemic
An epidemic is an outbreak of a disease that spreads quickly and affects many individuals at the same time. This infectious disease spreads swiftly to more people than experts would expect. It is often localized to a region, but the number of those infected in that region is significantly higher than normal. It usually affects a larger area than an outbreak.
