Owen Sound, also known as the Scenic City, is the largest urban community in Grey County, that features an expansive harbour and bay, winding rivers, tree-lined streets, extensive parks, and historic downtown. Originally known as Sydenham, the city has a population of over 20,000 people with key natural attractions including the Inglis Falls, Harrison Park, Kelso Beach Park and several conservation areas, with connecting waterfalls and a wide array of flora and fauna. Owen Sound was once named Cultural Capital of Canada, home to numerous festivals and events such as the Summerfolk Music, Crafts Festival, and a good number of museums and cultural attractions. Although Owen Sound’s busy port days have changed, the city still thrives in tourism and agriculture, with its harbor remaining active.
