Dan Simkowitz is the Co-President of Morgan Stanley, one of the world’s leading global financial services firms. In this role, he oversees the Institutional Securities Group and serves on several of the firm’s most influential governance bodies, including the Operating Committee, Management Committee, Risk Committee, and the Morgan Stanley–MUFG Steering Committee. Simkowitz joined Morgan Stanley in 1990 as part of the M&A department and has held leadership roles across New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong throughout his multi-decade career. Before becoming Co-President, he served as Head of Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) and Co-Head of Corporate Strategy, and he previously acted as Co-Chair of the Capital Commitment Committee.

Dan Simkowitz previously served as Co-Head of Global Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley, where he acted as the lead capital markets partner for the firm’s engagements with the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve during the 2008–2012 financial crisis.
In 2016, he was appointed Head of Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), overseeing strategic acquisitions including Eaton Vance, Parametric, and Mesa West, while expanding the firm’s private markets and alternatives platform.
Simkowitz has played a central role in some of the largest financings in history, advising major corporations such as Citigroup, BlackRock, Procter & Gamble, Verizon, and Wells Fargo.
His client experience also spans high-profile IPOs, including General Motors, Facebook, DuPont/Conoco, KKR, and Accenture.
He is regularly featured in leading financial media outlets, including Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, Reuters, CNBC, and Yahoo! Finance, where he provides insights on capital markets, investment strategy, and global finance.
