Stuart Popejoy
Stuart Popejoy is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kadena, the only platform providing a hybrid blockchain platform that features the only sharded and scalable layer-1 PoW public network. He is also the author and lead developer of the open source Pact programming language, for fast and safe smart contracts offering formal verification support. Stuart has over 15 years experience building trading systems and exchange backbones for the financial industry. Prior to co-founding Kadena, he directed JP Morgan’s Blockchain Center of Excellence and led the development of JP Morgan’s first blockchain platform, Juno. Stuart is also a seasoned musician and composer working in the NYC area.

EARLY CAREER
At JP Morgan, he designed and developed transformative tech in blockchain/crypto ledger, smart contracts, and data anonymization.
He also led next-gen global algo implementations focusing on multi-asset class and portfolio strategies.
He was Head of Algorithmic Trading for Pragma Securities, where he focused on direct software development of Algorithmic Trading.
He was Head of Trading Systems at Pink Sheet, where he designed and developed systems for quoting and trading OTC equities and ADRs.
He was Team Lead at Jupiter Media Metrix, where built in-house SFA systems and improvements to C++ based CMS.
He was a Senior Programmer and Analyst for Cooley Godward Kronish and International Contract.
MUSIC CAREER
Stuart leads and collaborates in numerous acclaimed musical projects in the New York area including Sugarlife, Bassoon and Day So Far.
He has premiered and released compositions developed using novel algorithmic techniques written in Haskell and is also a professional recording and mastering engineer.
He is an active member of the creative/new music scene on both electric bass and keyboards.
