Zack Seward is the Deputy Global News Editor at CoinDesk, a news site focused on bitcoin and digital currencies. In this role, he works closely with the sharpest reporters in the space to cover venture capital as well as blockchain and crypto startups. Prior to this, Seward was the Editor-in-Chief of Technical.ly and covered technology, startups, and local government in the U.S. East Coast. He also covered entrepreneurship and technology as a reporter for two NPR member stations, WHYY in Philadelphia and WXXI in New York.

Academic History

  • While at PBS, he researched and developed breaking news stories and features for both the Health and Arts & Culture units.
  • He served at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver with the NewsHour and wrote for its Art Beat blog
  • He got his start in public media when he was an anthropology student, working as a production intern for WTTW's Chicago Tonight.
  • He has also conducted internships in regional transportation planning and neighborhood revitalization. 
  • While at the Innovations Desk of WHYY, he helped launch a health and science show, The Pulse.
