SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF is the only fund tracking the Dow. It tracks the Dow Jones Industrial Average, one of the most popular benchmarks in the world and one that tracks some of America’s largest companies. The DJIA, the oldest continuing U.S. market index, is composed of thirty “blue-chips” U.S. stocks that have sustained earnings performance over a significant period of time. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by holding a portfolio of the common stocks that are part of the DJIA, with the weight of each stock in the portfolio substantially corresponding to the weight of such stock in the DJIA.
The DJIA has evolved into the most recognizable stock indicator in the world.
This index is the oldest continuous barometer of the U.S. stock market, and the most widely quoted indicator of U.S. stock market activity.
As of February 3, 2021, the Dow has underperformed the S&P 500 over the past 12 months with a total return of 10.7% compared to 20.0%, respectively.
