Adam Spilka is Chief Operating Officer of Huygens, an asset management firm that offers dynamic hedge strategies that are systematic, intuitive, transparent and liquid. In his role, Adam is involved in essentially all functions, including sales and marketing, finance, legal and compliance, vendor management, and client service. Prior to joining Huygens in 2012, Adam was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Artio Global Investors, a publicly-traded asset management firm spun off from Julius Baer Holding. He was Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary of AllianceBernstein, where he headed the Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group. He specializes in corporate and securities law, compliance, risk management, governance and legal writing.
At Artio, he was responsible for all legal, compliance and corporate secretary functions for NYSE-listed asset management firms.
He served on Artio's Management Committee and oversaw the firm's Enterprise Risk Management activities.
At AllianceBernstein, he played a key role in forming an early stage growth venture capital fund, selling management business.
He was also Vice President and Counsel at AXA, where he was involved in restructuring and rebranding corporate structure.
Adam was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law at the Cardozo School of Law, where he taught legal writing, research and moot court.
He was an Associate at Debevoise & Plimpton for a wide range of M&A, securities, private placement and project finance transactions.
He has a Juris Doctor from the Cardozo School of Law and a BA in Art History from Columbia College, and holds FINRA Series 3 and 65 licenses.
