Bruce Karsh is the Co-Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Oaktree Capital Management, a leader among global investment managers specializing in alternative investments. He is also one of the firm's co-founders and a portfolio manager for Oaktree's Global Opportunities, Value Opportunities and Global Credit strategies. Prior to Oaktree, he was a Managing Director of TCW and Portfolio Manager of the Special Credit Funds. Karsh and his wife, Martha, are the founders of the Karsh Family Foundation which focuses on educational philanthropy. To date, the Foundation has made grants and pledges of over $400 million to support education and scholarship at all levels. In addition, Karsh serves on the boards of a number of privately held companies, and is an Executive Board Member of the Golden State Warriors, Co-Owner of the Los Angeles Football Club and Trustee Emeritus of Duke University.
PHILANTHROPY
The Karsh Family Foundation supports education, democracy, and community.
The Foundation has granted over $400m for education, professorships and scholarships, principally for undergraduate financial aid.
The Karshes have established major scholarship programs at Duke, the University of Virginia Law School, the University of Pennsylvania, Howard University, Spelman College, and Brown University.

EARLY CAREER
Prior to TWC, he served as an Assistant to the Chairman of SunAmerica, Inc.
Before that, he was an attorney with the law firm of O’Melveny & Myers.
He clerked for the Honorable Anthony M. Kennedy, then of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and retired Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
