Eva Moskowitz is the Founder and CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools, the largest and top-performing public charter school network in New York City. A lifelong educator and reformer, she previously served on the New York City Council, where she chaired the Education Committee and became a leading voice for education reform. Before founding Success Academy, Moskowitz taught at the University of Virginia, Vanderbilt University, and the City University of New York, and chaired the American Studies faculty seminar at Columbia University. She has testified before Congress on education and economics and has worked with presidents, governors, mayors, and legislators from both parties to advance policies that expand educational opportunity for children.

  • Eva Moskowitz is the Founder and CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools, the largest and one of the highest-performing public charter school networks in New York City and the United States

  • Since launching Success Academy in 2006 with the backing of hedge funders Joel Greenblatt and John Petry, she has expanded the network to 49 schools across Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, serving more than 20,000 students. 

  • Under her leadership, Success Academy has become nationally recognized for its rigorous academics, innovative teaching model, and consistent track record of student achievement, making it a flagship for education reform in America.

  • Moskowitz is the author of several books on education and public policy, including The Education of Eva Moskowitz: A Memoir (2017), Mission Possible: How the Secrets of Success Academies Can Work in Any School (2012, co-authored with Arin Lavinia), and In Therapy We Trust: America’s Obsession with Self-Fulfillment (2001).
