Jules Urbach is a pioneer in computer graphics, streaming, and 3D rendering, with more than 25 years experience at the forefront of the industry. Jules is the Founder and CEO of OTOY, a leading cloud graphics company that is pioneering technology to redefine content creation and delivery, and its academy-award winning subsidiary, LightStage, which aims to revolutionize 3D content capture, creation, and delivery. At OTOY, he sets the strategic vision for the company, and is the Chief Architect of OTOY’s technology roadmap. Since Co-Founding OTOY in 2008, Jules has developed the company into a leader in cloud graphics. In 2009, Jules filed a patent for token-based rendering, building the foundations for the Render Token (RNDR), which launched this year to democratize high-end p2p GPU compute and holographic media.
EARLY CAREER
Under his leadership, OTOY's OctaneRender engine into Unity3D, reaching over 7-million developers on the world’s leading gaming platform.
At the age of 18, he made his first game, HellCab (Time Warner Interactive), which was one of the first CD-ROM games ever created.
He co-founded The 3D Groove Alliance, which produced Real Pool, the first 3D game ever available on Shockwave.com.
He and OTOY CCO optioned the rights from Toei Animation to develop a live action film based on the Gaiking TV series and Mattel Shogun Warriors.
Prior to OTOY, Jules created the web’s first 3D video game platform and licensed the software to Macromedia, Disney, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon, Microsoft, Hasbro and AT&T.
Jules has been hailed by writer George Gilder as "the most inventive software engineer he has ever met."
