Julia Boorstin is a Senior Media & Tech Correspondent on CNBC and a Contributor on CNBC's "TechCheck." She covers media and tech with a focus on their intersection and technological innovation, and delivers reporting, analysis and interviews for the network. In 2013, she created and launched the CNBC Disruptor 50, an annual list she oversees, highlighting the private companies transforming the economy and challenging companies in established industries. Before joining CNBC, Boorstin was a writer and reporter at Fortune magazine, as well as a contributor to CNN Headline News. She is the author of the bestseller, When Women Lead, where she brings together the stories of over sixty female CEOs and leaders to illustrate how and why women lead differently.

Academic History

CNBC

  • Boorstin joined CNBC in 2006 as a General Assignment Reporter. In 2007, she moved to Los Angeles to cover the media.

  • She reports and conducts CEO interviews across CNBC programming, and plays a key role on CNBC’s bicoastal tech-focused program TechCheck.

  • She reported a documentary on the future of television for the network, “Stay Tuned…The Future of TV.” 

  • She also helped launch CNBC’s ‘Closing the Gap’ initiative, covering the people and companies closing gender gaps, and leads CNBC’s coverage of studies on this topic.


EARLY CAREER

  • At Fortune, she covered a wide range of stories on everything from media companies to retail to business trends.

  • She also served as a Contributor to Street Life, a live market wrap-up segment on CNN Headline News. 

  • She has also worked for the State Department's delegation to the OECD and for Vice President Gore's Domestic Policy office.
