Kathy Kraninger is Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Solidus Labs, the category-definer for crypto-native risk monitoring and market surveillance solutions. In her role, Kathy leads the firm’s regulatory strategy and works to advance market integrity and responsible innovation in digital asset markets. She spends most of her time working with regulators, U.S. lawmakers and traditional institutions to explain how digital markets can be effectively policied, having extensive experience in public policy, risk management, consumer protection and financial regulation. Before joining Solidus, Kathy served as the Senate-confirmed Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, leading the 1,500-person independent, regulatory and law enforcement agency. She made her mark on all aspects of the agency’s mission and operations, particularly in facilitating innovation, promoting financial inclusion and leading through the economic uncertainty of the global pandemic. Prior to her presidential appointment to lead the CFPB, she spent two decades in public service across multiple Administrations under leaders of both parties.
Kathy served on the board of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Financial Stability Oversight Board.
She served as Chair of the Federal Financial Institutions Examinations Council, and held senior positions at the Office of Management and Budget.
She held leadership roles at the U.S. Senate, where she was the Clerk for the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
On Capitol Hill, she also worked for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
