Nathan McCauley is Co-Founder and CEO of Anchorage, a cryptocurrency-native, digital asset custodian that uses modern security engineering to help institutions safeguard their investments. At Anchorage, he is responsible for the company's leadership and technical expertise, guiding Anchorage's internal development of products and services. He also drives the growth and expansion of Anchorage, pioneering the company as the nation's first cryptocurrency federal bank charter. Nathan is a leader in the field of security engineering and has worked extensively on software security in adversarial environments and filed patents for mobile security innovations he designed and implemented. Prior to founding Anchorage, he led security engineering teams at Square and Docker.

  • Anchorage is the leading digital asset platform for institutions with integrated financial services and infrastructure solutions.

  • The cryptocurrency platform enables institutions to participate in digital assets through custody, staking, trading, governance, and settlement.

  • The platform works closely with its regulators to meet stringent compliance requirements and to set the industry bar for digital asset operations under federal oversight.

  • Anchorage Digital is funded by leading institutions including Andreessen Horowitz, GIC—Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, Goldman Sachs, KKR, and Visa, with its most recent Series D valuation over $3 billion. 


SQUARE

  • As an early employee at Square, he worked on the infrastructure security platform now used to move over $80B in annualized GPV.

  • He led the team that developed and operationalized a new industry standard called PCI PIN on Glass, opening Square to multiple additional international markets.

  • He also led the development of Square's credit card storage system, which securely holds every credit card Square processes.

  • He covered security-related issues including manufacturing the reader, security of the backend systems, accepting mobile pins, and more.


ARXAN

  • He started his career at Arxan, where he worked on anti-reverse engineering and key management for commercial and military applications.

  • He was involved in the development of software that helps clients with IP protection, key management, and trusted computation.

  • Development and integration of cryptographic protection schemes, including authentication protocols and white box cryptography.
