Rob McEwen is the Chairman and Chief Owner of McEwen Mining, a leading gold and silver producer in the Americas. McEwen is a mining legend who has been in the gold and mining industry for over 30 years. He spent 18 years in the investment industry, became CEO of several gold mining companies, and has explored the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Argentina for gold, silver, and copper. He is best known for transforming Goldcorp from a holding company into a global gold-mining powerhouse and revitalizing Ontario’s Red Lake gold mine through the discovery of new high-grade resources at depth.

MCEWEN MINING

  • Rob is a legendary mine developer and one of Canada’s most innovative, original and dynamic mining entrepreneurs. 

  • Under his leadership, McEwen Mining has expanded with four producing mines, located in Nevada, Ontario, Mexico and Argentina.

  • He owns 16% of McEwen Mining and 13% of McEwen Copper, and also owns a very large underdeveloped copper deposit in Argentina.

GOLDCORP

  • Rob was the Founder and former Chairman and CEO of Goldcorp, one of the largest gold producers in the world.

  • His famous “Goldcorp Challenge” in 2000, which provided open access to 50 years of proprietary geological data from Red Lake and offered prizes to anyone who could find the next six million ounces of gold, created an estimated $6 billion of value from subsequent discoveries.

  • Under his leadership, the company grew through a series of mergers into one of the world’s largest gold producers, and was elected as one of the 50 most innovative companies on the web worldwide.

  • During the last thirteen years of Rob being Goldcorp’s CEO, the company’s market capitalization grew from $50 million to over $8 billion and its share price grew at a compound annual rate of 31%.
