Zac Prince is a Managing Director at Galaxy Digital, a global leader in digital assets, alternative investing, and data-center infrastructure. He oversees Galaxy One, the firm’s integrated platform offering high-yield cash solutions, trading, and crypto services for institutional and high-net-worth clients. Prince is widely known as the Co-Founder and former CEO of BlockFi, the pioneering crypto lending platform that later entered bankruptcy following industry-wide disruptions. Before entering the digital asset space, he held multiple leadership roles in high-growth technology startups. His early career began in adtech, where he contributed to two major exits: Admeld, which was acquired by Google, and Sociomantic, acquired by DunnHumby.

Academic History

BLOCKFI & BANKRUPTCY

  • Zac Prince co-founded BlockFi in 2017 with Flori Marquez, with the goal of creating a crypto-focused financial services platform offering products similar to traditional banking.

  • Under his leadership, BlockFi expanded rapidly, serving more than 650,000 retail clients and over 400 institutional investors, and launching the world’s first crypto rewards credit card. 

  • However, in November 2022, BlockFi filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy following severe losses tied to its exposure to FTX and Alameda Research

  • During the subsequent legal proceedings, Prince testified in the trial of Sam Bankman-Fried, stating that BlockFi was unaware of Alameda’s true financial condition and associated risks.

  • In 2024, Prince announced his departure from the crypto industry to join RE Cost Seg, a real estate technology company that specializes in accelerated depreciation and cost-segregation studies for property investors.


EARLY CAREER

  • Before entering the crypto and fintech sectors, Zac Prince built his career in the adtech industry, where he contributed to two notable acquisitions: Admeld, acquired by Google, and Sociomantic, acquired by dunnhumby.

  • He later transitioned into online lending and financial technology, holding senior roles in business development and strategy. 

  • Prior to founding BlockFi, Prince led business development at Orchard Platform, a broker-dealer and RIA focused on online lending infrastructure, and at Zibby (now known as Katapult), a rapidly growing online consumer lending company.
