Academic History
Zac Prince co-founded BlockFi in 2017 with Flori Marquez, with the goal of creating a crypto-focused financial services platform offering products similar to traditional banking.
Under his leadership, BlockFi expanded rapidly, serving more than 650,000 retail clients and over 400 institutional investors, and launching the world’s first crypto rewards credit card.
However, in November 2022, BlockFi filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy following severe losses tied to its exposure to FTX and Alameda Research.
During the subsequent legal proceedings, Prince testified in the trial of Sam Bankman-Fried, stating that BlockFi was unaware of Alameda’s true financial condition and associated risks.
In 2024, Prince announced his departure from the crypto industry to join RE Cost Seg, a real estate technology company that specializes in accelerated depreciation and cost-segregation studies for property investors.
