Market Timing

An investment or trading strategy, market timing is an attempt to beat the stock market by forecasting its movements, then buying and selling stocks accordingly. It is the act of switching between asset classes based on predictive methods. These predictive tools include following economic data or technical indicators to gauge how the market is going to move.

Market timing is the opposite of a buy-and-hold strategy.
