Homeland Generation, also known as iGeneration or Generation Z, is a moniker derived from the naming contest hosted by Neil Howe and William Strauss, a reference to the fact its members grew up in the shadow of 9/11, the War on Terror, and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Born since 2005, its members are the most ethnically and racially diverse generation in history, as they are inclined in creating their own “personal brands” during formative years. As recession babies, Homelanders are thus far also the product of declining birth and fertility rates. A greater proportion of them are also being born to older parents.
