American University is a private Methodist-affiliated university founded to train students to be public servants. The university now has eight schools and over 160 programs for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. AU recently launched a program on legislative negotiation, taking advantage of the active political environment it calls home. Although there is much to do on campus, AU encourages students to explore the nation’s capital by providing them with an unlimited Metro pass.
