Bob McNally is the Founder and President of Rapidan Energy Group, an independent energy consulting and market advisory firm that advises leading corporations and investors on energy markets, policy, and geopolitics. McNally has over 30 years of government and market experience as an international energy consultant, senior White House policy official, and hedge fund strategist. Prior to founding Rapidan, he was a top international and domestic energy adviser in the White House, and spent 12 years at Tudor Investment Corporation where he served as Managing Director. He frequently speaks on energy markets, energy policy, and national security, and has provided expert testimony before Congress on several occasions. He is also the author of the award-winning and acclaimed book, Crude Volatility, which received wide acclaim from leading energy experts and investors.
GOVERNMENT CAREER
McNally was a top international and domestic energy adviser in the White House.
He served as Special Assistant to the President on the National Economic Council and Senior Director for International Energy on the National Security Council.
He was Co-Chair for energy policy on the 2008 Romney Campaign, and served on the Policy Advisory Committee for Senator Marco Rubio's 2010 campaign.
Today, he regularly advises congressional and administration officials on energy policy and markets.
EARLY CAREER
McNally started his career in 1991 as an oil market analyst and consultant with Energy Security Analysis.
He later joined Tudor Investment Corporation and rose to the ranks, analyzing energy markets, macroeconomic policy and geopolitics.
He also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, West Africa.
Crude Volatility, received wide acclaim from leading energy experts and investors including Daniel Yergin, Scott Sheffield, Paul Tudor Jones, and Paul Horsnell.
The book was reviewed favorably in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Petroleum Economist.
It also received the Honorable Mention in Economics in the 2018 PROSE Awards.
Crude Volatility won the IAEE 'Marcel Boiteux Best International Energy Economics Book Award' in 2023.
