The iShares Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF aims to track the investment results of the ICE BofAML 1-5 Year US Corporate Index, which includes U.S. dollar-denominated investment-grade corporate bonds with between one and five years remaining to maturity. The index is market-value-weighted, pulling the strategy toward the largest and most liquid issues. IGSB can be used to customize a bond allocation and pursue income. The size of the market for the fund ensures small spreads, which is a significant factor for bond ETFs.
The iShares Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF began in January of 2007, which gives it a substantial price and performance history for an ETF.
Over the ten years ending with October 2020, the average total return was 3.04% per year.
The underlying index measures the performance of investment-grade corporate bonds of both U.S. and non-U.S. issuers that are U.S. dollar-denominated and publicly issued in the U.S. domestic market and have a remaining maturity of greater than or equal to one year and less than five years.
