University of Cincinnati has been the fount of many discoveries since its inception in 1819. These include the breakthroughs of the first electronic organ, the first antihistamine, the first co-op education program, the Golden Gate Bridge designer, and the oral polio vaccine. It is the major employer in the Cincinnati region, with an economic impact of more than $3 billion.
