Close-Ended Investment Management Companies are a form of investment company that manage closed-end mutual funds, and sell a limited number of shares to investors on an exchange by way of an initial public offering. As they specialize in the management of publicly-traded closed-end funds, Closed-end investment companies are fairly rare, focusing on a portfolio of pooled assets that raises a fixed amount of capital through an IPO, closed-end funds are pooled fund investments that can be managed to a wide array of strategies. They issue shares of common stock, from which capital will be raised, and build a portfolio of securities.
