Alex Batlin is the Managing Director of Bitpanda Custody, formerly Trustology, an insured and regulated institutional-grade custodial wallet platform. He served as Trustology's Founder and CEO before its acquisition by Bitpanda. Batlin has extensive experience leading blockchain research for BNY Mellon, UBS' FinTech Innovation Lab and co-founding the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. He served as Head of Emerging Business & Technology team and Blockchain Lead at BNY Mellon, responsible for research and development of emerging technology enabled business strategy, business models, products and services. Before that, he was a Senior Innovation Manager and Head of both UBS's FinTech Innovation Lab based in the UK's Level 39 accelerator and UBS's Crypto 2.0 Pathfinder research program. Earlier in his career, he worked at Nomura, JPMorgan and CSC.

Batlin co-founded Utility Settlement Coin, Enterprise Ethereum Alliance and Trusted IoT consortias.
He also served as a Mentor for Level39 and Fintech Innovation Lab.
Batlin served as Head of UBS’s technology research service, delivering market landscapes, insights and foresight to business, technology and leadership communities.
He was the Founding Head of both UBS's FinTech Innovation Lab based in the UK's Level 39 accelerator and UBS's Crypto 2.0 Pathfinder research programme into blockchain technology and its impact on business models.
He was an Engineer in UBS’s technology R&D team, researching big data analytics, social media, cloud and mobile computing, device security, unified communication and cognitive computing technologies.
Prior roles included Head of UBS's Technology Research Service, Engineer in UBS's Technology R&D team, and Head of SDLC services.
