Anthony Brandt is an American composer, academic, and writer. Among his compositions are two chamber operas, an oratorio, and orchestral, chamber, and vocal music. He is co-founder and Artistic Director of the Houston-based contemporary music ensemble Musiqa. Musiqa has performed the music of over 200 living composers including over 70 world premieres, and collaborated on inter-disciplinary concerts with the Houston Ballet II, Dance of Asia America, Aurora Picture Show, and numerous authors and visual artists. Musiqa’s free educational programs have served over 60,000 students and teachers at over 230 Houston public schools in the past fifteen years and earned nine awards from the National Endowment for the Arts.
