Prior to joining SkyBridge, he was the Founder and Managing Partner at GPS Partners, a $2.5B hedge fund that primarily focused in the energy sector. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at Neuberger Berman and a Partner at Oscar Capital Management. He also held various roles at Goldman Sachs. Brett served under Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as Co-Chief Operating Officer for economic and business policy. He was also a Senior Adviser at C40 Cities, a group taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that receives funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
As a Senior Advisor to LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, he provided advice on e onomic development by leveraging the city's various assets.
He also created tax incentives, reforming city procurements and pursuing new business opportunities with the LA Mayor.
At GPS Partners, his responsibilities included portfolio management, oversight of business operations, and raising capital.
He began his career at Goldman Sachs where he held various positions including Vice President and Co-Head of the Restricted Stock Group.
He is the co-author of The Forewarned Investor and contributed to Learning from the Global Financial Crisis - Creatively, Reliably and Sustainably.
