Gerard Minack is a veteran macro strategist, well-known for being one of the most bearish– and keenest – observers of financial markets. Minack has been analyzing, forecasting and advising on financial markets for over 35 years. His focus is the fundamental factors that usually drive investment performance: valuation, currency, monetary policy and the economic cycle. Minack led the macro strategy effort for Morgan Stanley as Head of Global Developed Markets, where he built a reputation for his candid observations of markets, monetary policy and global economics. Minack was also the author of the legendary “Downunder Daily,” a two-page publication considered to be a must-read among the investment community, both here and abroad. Today, he is the Founder of Minack Advisors, a consultancy that provides fundamentally-based research on financial markets.
EARLY CAREER
Minack joined Morgan Stanley as an Australian market strategist in 2005.
Prior to being a global cross-asset strategist, he was Morgan Stanley's global developed market equity strategist.
Before that, he worked at ABN AMRO, BZW and at Syntec Economic Services, a market forecasting firm.
Earlier in his career, Minack worked in the government.
