Gregg Hymowitz is the Chairman and CEO of EnTrust Global, a leading alternative asset management firm with $18.7B in assets under management. He also serves as Chair of EnTrust Global's Compensation Committee and Audit Committee, and is a member of the Management Committee and the Blue Ocean Executive Committee. Prior to EnTrust Global, Hymowitz was Vice President at Goldman Sachs., which he joined in 1992. Before that, he was an Attorney in the Mergers & Acquisitions practice at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, a law firm providing legal services to the corporate, industrial, financial and governmental communities worldwide. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Hymowitz is an active philanthropist with an interest in causes related to education, social issues, and the arts.

ENTRUST GLOBAL

  • Hymowitz founded the firm in 1997, sold a majority stake to Legg Mason in 2016 and repurchased the entire interest from Franklin Templeton in 2020.

  • In 2015, the firm launched Blue Ocean Funds, a maritime lending division. Blue Ocean completed its acquisition of alternative investment fund manager Offshore Merchant Partners, which specializes in the maritime and energy industries.

  • He most recently sold an additional minority stake in EnTrust to the Brunei Sovereign Wealth Fund, which now owns 20%.


EARLY CAREER

  • Hymowitz is an activist investor, known for his bold investment strategy. He is known for his mega delas with hedge funders like Bill Ackman and Daniel Loeb.

  • He is a former board member of the Board of Trustees of Montefiore Medical Center and served two terms as a Trustee of the Riverdale Country Day School.

  • He has also been involved in political fundraising and was co-chair of the Dick Gephardt 2004 presidential campaign.
