James Ramirez is Chief Technology Officer of Essentia Analytics, a behavioral data analytics provider that helps professional investors make more skilled investment decisions. James is an experienced hands-on technology leader with a proven record in building high-performing, diverse and globally-distributed teams within the financial services and fintech sectors. He is also a commercially-focused intrapreneur with a reputation for engineering excellence, innovation and highly-performant, cloud-native architecture and design. Throughout his career, he has built and designed client-facing systems for massive scale in a highly regulated environment. Prior to joining Essentia, he spent 15 years as a technologist with Barclays – working in the firm's investment banking and wealth management businesses, as well as contributing to technology governance and strategy across the Group.

James was involved in founding the Barclays Group Mobile Community of Practice, and ran the Back and Middle Office technology platform for the Asian futures business.
He also built and designed multiple client-facing systems for Barclays.
He is experienced in operating Lean, Kanban and DevOps at velocity within highly regulated or strongly governed environments.
He operated strongly-governed environments such as ISO27001 and ITIL.
He has worked in London and Singapore, and has a track record of building high performance teams across geographies and time zones.
