John McMahon is a tech sales legend and the greatest sales leader of our time. Over the past 30 years, McMahon has become well-known for creating some of the most successful sales teams at public software companies. He is often referred to as “The Godfather,” having served as the CRO of five software enterprises: PTC, GeoTel, Ariba, BladeLogic, and BMC. McMahon is a Master and Creator of MEDDIC, Economic buyer, Decision criteria, Decision process, Identify pain, and Champion, referring to a sales process created by PTC company employees working in the 90s under McMahon’s leadership. In addition, he has served as an executive board advisor to some of the most significant companies of the last decade, including AppDynamics, Glassdoor, HubSpot, Fuze, Sumo Logic, Sprinklr, Cybereason, and Thoughtspot. McMahon currently sits on the boards of several companies, including the data cloud platform Snowflake and the application data platform MongoDB. He also serves as a board member at Lacework, Sigma and Observe.

As head of worldwide sales at BladeLogic, he helped transform it from a startup to its $872 million acquisition by BMC.
At GeoTel, he grew sales to $52 million prior to a $2 billion acquisition by Cisco.
At PTC, where McMahon first made his mark, sales grew from $1 million to $1.1 billion in nine years.
