John Harris is considered one of the most successful investors in private equity history. Throughout his career, he has launched and scaled multiple platforms across alternatives, sports and philanthropy. Harris is best known as the Co-Founder of Apollo Global Management, the second-largest alternatives and largest alternative credit manager. He is also the Founder and Managing General Partner of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, a leading sports and entertainment platform that includes the marquee franchises Philandelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, among other premier assets. In addition, Harris is the Founder of 26North, a next-generation alternatives asset management firm that sponsors credit, insurance and reinsurance solutions, and private equity strategies. Harris is one of the largest supporters of after-school sports programs. He is the Founder of Harris Philanthropies, a nonprofit family foundation focusing on youth and community involvement.

Harris co-founded alternative investment firm Apollo Global Management in 1990 with fellow investors Leon Black and Marc Rowan.
After helping launch the firm's IPO, he cashed out one of the top private equity deals of all time in 2008.
Under his leadership, Apollo has grown into a global leader in alternative asset management, helping university endowments, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, charitable foundations, financial institutions and family offices to build better financial futures.
He was responsible for some of the firm’s most successful private equity investments, including the historic LyondellBasell transaction.
Under his leadership, the HBSE platform has grown to include Top-10 venue, the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., the $86 million mixed-use Training Complex in Camden, NJ, and two minor league teams.
Some of the company's marquee franchises also include renowned esports franchise Dignitas, the Sixers Innovation Lab and HBSEv, a venture fund investing in early stage sports technology companies, among other franchises.
He is a General Partner of the Crystal Palace Football Club in the Premier League and a minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL.
