Maliha Abidi is a Pakistani-American artist and illustrator passionate about BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) stories. Her work is dedicated to women’s rights, mental health, gender equity, girls education, refugee crisis and amplifying the voices from the marginalized communities. Abidi is the Creator of Women Rise NFT, a collection of 10,000 randomly-generated and unique NFT art pieces. She also founded The Story of Mental Health, an organization providing resources on intersectional mental health awareness and creating a safe space for women.

Academic History

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

  • She was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, and migrated to California, United States at the age of 14.
  • As an immigrant, her experiences play a huge role in her work.
  • A neuroscience student, she combines her knowledge of neurosciences and her passion for art to start a mental health revolution with intersectionality, creativity and empathy at the heart of it.
