Michael Boniello is a Managing Director at Poseidon Asset Management, a pioneer hedge fund primarily focused on investing in the cannabis industry. In his role, Mike is responsible for early stage diligence on companies, managing the government policy, as well as co-managing investor relations and raising capital for Poseidon’s funds and portfolio companies. He brings over 15 years of diversified financial experience to the firm, which he has focused not only on investment management but on building the structure and systems that allow investment teams to succeed. Mike initially entered into the cannabis industry in 2013 doing pro-bono business and regulatory work for early stage companies trying to navigate the highly fragmented and regulated industry. He is a Board Member and the Treasurer of the California Cannabis Industry Association, the largest cannabis trade association in California.

Prior to joining Poseidon in 2018, Mike spent 3 years at Merrill Lynch Private Bank and Investment Group.
At Merrill Lynch, he co-managed over $1.5 billion in assets for high net worth individuals, families, and foundations.
He was an Assistant Vice President at Barclays, where he co-managed over $1 billion in assets.
He also served as a Bond Analyst and Portfolio Manager at a family office before moving on to Thomas Weisel Partners, a boutique investment bank.
The past 2+ years of raising capital into the cannabis industry has given Mike insight on how to allocate capital into the California market.
He has been a CCIA Federal Policy Advisor for over a year and has been part of its DC lobbying efforts.
In addition to being a Board Member, he also sits on the CCIA DISE and Legislative Committees.
Mike holds a Series 7 and 66 licenses with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Administration from Miami University.
