Oscar Wendel is the Editor-at-Large at MEA Finance Magazine and Founder of Global Stratalogues, a platform dedicated to fostering collaboration among industry leaders, governments and academia. Since relocating to Dubai in 2008, Wendel has played a vital role in advancing critical conversations and standards in the region. He has distinguished himself as an innovator in conferences, business publishing, public relations, construction, and safety design. Wendel’s career includes being Senior Content Manager at the Financial Times in London, Senior Manager of Content & Conferences at Dubai World Trade Center, serving as a Director reporting to the CEO of MCH Group in Basel, a publicly listed company most famous for Art Basel, and launched the global music initiative 'Intraplanetary National Anthem' at COP28.
EARLY CAREER
Wendel served as Global Director of Content and Conferences at MCH Group, the international art fair in Basel.
He was also Senior Manager at the Dubai World Trade Center, where he oversaw programming for GITEX and Gulfood, two of the world’s largest industry exhibitions.
He later joined ITP Publishing, where he established the firm's conference division and contributed to Construction Week and Arabian Business.
He organized the GCC Leadership Summit on Worker Rights under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization and Human Rights Watch.
He oversaw GITEX and Gulfood, where he drove attendance to double with over 200,000 visitors annually between 2019 and 2023 for both shows.
He presented ASTROCOOL, a groundbreaking research initiative he co-founded to explore space technologies to mitigate the impact of solar radiation on Earth.

Wendel is a writer and columnist for business journals covering technology, innovation, geopolitics, and culture.
He has reported for Construction Week from Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq and notable interviews include the Ericsson CEO and BP Chairman Carl Henric Svanberg, the Finnish Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, and the architect Professor Albert Speer
His articles have been published in the Banker, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Arabian Business.
His previous speaking engagements include the Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit in 2022.
