Sir Paul Tucker is one of the most respected central bankers and financial policy makers of our time. Tucker is the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, responsible for the Monetary Policy, Financial Stability, and Prudential Policy Committees. During his time at the Bank of England, he was at the centre of efforts to contain the financial crisis and to reshape the international regulatory framework for financial stability. Tucker spent more than three decades in central banking, occupying senior positions in the international policymaking world. In 2014, he was granted knighthood for his services to central banking and the creation of a more resilient international banking system. Tucker is the author of Unelected Power (Princeton University Press, 2018) and Global Discord (Princeton University Press, 2022) – both books are at the interface of political economy and political philosophy. Most recently, he was the Chair of the Systemic Risk Council, the independent body of former top central bankers, government officials and financial experts dedicated to a stable financial system. Today, Tucker is a Research Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School.
