Pete Muller is the Founder and CEO of PDT Partners, a leading quantitative investment firm. Pete is a pioneer and master in quantitative trading and one of Wall Street's revered quant traders. He has been using computers, data and algorithms to predict the prices of securities since 1993. His published research includes work on financial optimization, mortgage prepayments, and equity valuation models. Outside his quant career, maths, music, and investing have always been a large part of Pete’s life. He is a well-known pianist and singer-songwriter, has released three albums of original music and performs regularly in New York City with his trio. He also creates the occasional crossword puzzle for the New York Times and runs a monthly music-based crossword contest.
PDT Partners was initially founded by Pete in 1993 as a proprietary trading group within Morgan Stanley.
In 2013, PDT spun out of Morgan Stanley to become an independent investment firm.
The firm uses advanced mathematical models and algorithms to identify and execute trading strategies across various asset classes including equities, futures, and options.
Today, PDT Partners is a prominent player in the quantitative hedge fund space. As of March 2023, PDT Partners has over $10 billion of assets under management.
