Stewart Patrick is James H. Binger Senior Fellow in Global Governance and Director of the International Institutions and Global Governance Program at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a recognized expert on multilateral cooperation on global issues as well as U.S. policy toward international institutions, with a particular focus on the United Nations and the challenges caused by fragile and post-conflict states. Patrick has also published several articles and chapters on the topics of multilateral cooperation, U.S. foreign policy, and state-building.

PAST APPOINTMENTS

  • At the Center for Global Development, he directed the center's research and policy engagement on the intersection between security and development.
  • At the Center on International Cooperation at NYU, he ran two multi-scholar research programs on post-conflict reconstruction and on multilateralism and U.S. foreign policy.
  • At the U.S. Department of State, he had lead staff responsibility for U.S. policy toward Afghanistan and a range of global and transnational issues.
