Toby Loftin
Toby Loftin is the Founder and Managing Principal of BP Capital Fund Advisors, a registered investment advisor specializing in energy investing and energy infrastructure strategies. He co manages the BP Capital TwinLine MLP Fund and the BP Capital TwinLine Energy Fund, which focus on master limited partnerships and broader energy sector opportunities. Loftin is an experienced investment professional with more than 25 years in the asset management industry. His expertise spans energy equities, MLPs, portfolio construction, and institutional client strategy. He plays a central role in managing the firm’s energy infrastructure and MLP investments, with a focus on income generation and long term capital appreciation within the energy sector.
The firm’s flagship strategies include the BP Capital TwinLine MLP Fund and the BP Capital TwinLine Energy Fund, both designed to provide investors with exposure to energy infrastructure, pipeline assets, and energy related equities.
Loftin has been featured in leading financial media outlets including Bloomberg, CNBC, and Institutional Investor, where he provides commentary on energy markets, oil and gas investing, and MLP strategies.
EARLY CAREER
Loftin began managing the family wealth of T. Boone Pickens in 2010 and served on the renowned energy investor’s investment committee.
In 2013, with Pickens’ support, he launched BP Capital Fund Advisors. Pickens later closed the original hedge fund, while the registered investment advisory business continued.
Prior to BP Capital, Loftin was a Partner at SteelPath Fund Advisors and SteelPath Capital Management, formerly Alerian, where he focused on energy infrastructure investing.
Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Institutional Equity Research Sales at Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets, concentrating on the energy sector and the MLP asset class.
He also held roles in equity research and institutional equity sales at Lehman Brothers and Hoak Breedlove Wesneski.
