R. Cromwell Coulson is the President and CEO of OTC Markets Group, the operator of the world's largest open, transparent and connected marketplace for over-the-counter securities. In his roles, he is responsible for the company’s overall growth and strategic direction. Since acquiring OTC Markets’ predecessor business in 1997, Cromwell has transformed the company from a privately-held publisher of broker-dealer quotations into a publicly-traded company operating three public markets for 12,000 securities that trade nearly $713 billion in dollar volume annually. Coulson is a strong advocate of improving access to capital for small companies, supporting a diverse ecosystem of broker-dealers, and empowering investors with information. Prior to OTC Markets, he was an institutional trader and portfolio manager at Carr Securities Corporation, an institutional broker-dealer.
In 1997, Coulson led a group of investors to acquire OTC Markets Group’s predecessor business, the National Quotation Bureau.
He transformed an opaque and inefficient phone-based market into technology-driven, open, transparent and connected financial marketplaces.
Today, the firm operates the OTCQX®, OTCQB® and OTC Pink® marketplaces for over 10,000 U.S. and global securities.
