Sir David Harding is the Founder, CEO and Executive Chair of Winton Capital Management, a global leader in financial mathematics and scientific research into financial markets. Harding is described as “one of the pioneers of the hedge fund industry,” and has been at the forefront of systematic investment management for over 40 years. His use of quantitative statistical research of market data to inform his trading decisions has led to levels of remarkable success. Harding is a well-known trend following trader who has established two of the world's leading quantitative investment companies: the first, AHL, was sold to Man Group in 1994; he launched the second, Winton, in 1997. He has made philanthropic donations to causes related to the furthering of science, risk literacy and education in the United Kingdom. He was knighted in 2022 for his outstanding involvement in philanthropic services.

PHILANTHROPY
Harding was recognized for his services to philanthropy with the title of Knight Bachelor in the Queen’s 2022 New Year Honours List.
His philanthropic interests focus on funding scientific research and the communication of scientific ideas.
In 2019, he gave a $130 million gift to Cambridge University, part of which will fund the Harding Distinguished Postgraduate Scholars Programme.
Other notable gifts include donations to the Cavendish Laboratory, the Max Planck Institute in Berlin and the Science Museum in London.
He also supports the Royal Hospital, Helen and Douglas House and has made personal donations to many other charities and causes.
