Gilchrist Berg is the Founder and President of Water Street Capital, an investment management firm focused on long/short equities. After graduating from Princeton University in 1973, he was affiliated with the Barnett Winston Company in real estate finance. Prior to Water Street, he was a Vice President at Kidder Peabody, a research boutique, and later acquired Bluefield Supply. With Tiger Management as his initial investor, he left Kidder Peabody to form Water Street Capital. Berg and his wife are deeply involved in the community, supporting and serving on the boards of numerous organizations.

Over the past 25 years, Berg has contributed generously to support higher education, healthcare, and the arts.
He pledged over $1 million in additional funding to continue support for his Gladys Prior Awards for Career Teaching Excellence.
