Originally a front-end developer, Chu began investing in cryptocurrency in 2013 and has since supported and invested in over 300 projects, including foundational blockchain protocols, decentralized applications, and tools that are shaping the future of DeFi, NFTs, and Web3 innovation. Chu is widely recognized as a pioneer in crypto venture capital and a prominent voice in the global blockchain community, advocating for responsible innovation and scalable, decentralized solutions. Jehan Chu is a recognized thought leader and ecosystem builder in the blockchain and Web3 space. In 2014, he founded the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong, followed by the Hyperledger Hong Kong community in 2016.
A Kauffman Fellow, Chu is also the co-founder of Social Alpha Foundation, a Web3-focused social impact non-profit, and serves as a trustee of Westtown School.
Additionally, he acts as a Crypto Advisor to Christie’s Auction House and co-chairs the Blockchain Committee at the Hong Kong Fintech Association.
Through his work at Kenetic Capital, Chu has helped shape the evolution of crypto venture capital, supported foundational blockchain infrastructure projects, and contributed to the growth and maturation of global Web3 markets.
He has lectured at Hong Kong University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the City University of Hong Kong MBA program, and frequently participates in panels and industry events.

He previously served as an art advisor for Sotheby’s in both New York and Asia before founding Vermillion Art Collections, a specialized art advisory helping private and corporate collectors manage their collections.
He has also served on the boards of nonprofit art and design organizations such as Design Trust and Para Site.
Today, Chu sits on the boards of the Global Patrons of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Para Site Art Space, the Collector’s Committee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Design Trust HK.
