Justin Woodward is the Co-Founder and Tax Attorney at TaxBit, the industry-leading tax and accounting software for the digital economy. Together with his brother and cousin, Austin and Brandon Woodward, TaxBit quickly achieved unicorn status and revolutionized tax and accounting infrastructure and processes throughout the tokenized economy. Prior to TaxBit, Justin was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Dale Kimball, where he worked on cases and drafted numerous orders dealing with employment, class actions, securities litigation, bankruptcy, municipality, contract disputes, cryptocurrency civil forfeiture actions, as well as other areas of the law. He was also a Cyber Currencies Project Leader for multinational law firm Kirkland & Ellis.
In 2018, brothers Austin and Justin Woodward started TaxBit with the goal of enabling digital assets for the global economy.
They have since developed tax and accounting solutions built for enterprises operating within the financial ecosystem and digital asset industry.
Today, TaxBit has become an industry leader in digital asset tax and accounting compliance, streamlining and adapting to the ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
EARLY CAREER
At the age of 22, Justin became one of the youngest attorneys ever to get a law degree from the University of Chicago.
While working a federal clerkship he discovered crypto, and in 2016 turned down a $75,000 bonus to found TaxBit.
He completed a federal judicial clerkship for United States District Judge Kimball working on cases and drafting numerous orders dealing with cryptocurrency, securities litigation, and contract disputes.
He worked with the Bankruptcy group on an unliquidated damage dispute, and responded to a motion for change of judge.
He also worked with the General Counsel of a Fortune 500 company, where he examined the feasibility of cryptocurrency adoption and analyzed the potential liability of causing an interdependent electronic product to lose integration.
