Nithin Kamath is an Indian stock broker and entrepreneur known as the Founder and CEO of Zerodha, India's largest brokerage firm providing online trading services in stock, commodities, mutual funds, bonds, and currency. He is also the founder of Rainmatter, a Bangalore based financial technology startup fund and incubator, and a columnist for The Financial Express. Nithin launched Zerodha in 2010 to overcome the hurdles he faced during his decade-long stint as a trader. He started his professional career as a sub-broker when he partnered with Kamath Associates as a proprietary broker. He also spent six years deducing Portfolio advisory services. He began trading stocks when he was introduced to the markets by his friends at just 17, where he started trading in penny stocks.
Founded in 2010, Zerodha is among the largest stock brokers in India in terms of active retail clients, with a total of 9+ million clients.
The company runs a number of popular open online educational and community initiatives to empower retail traders and investors.
Zerodha also runs Varsity by Zerodha, a large education initiative, and Rainmatter Capital, a fintech seed fund incubator based in Bangalore.
It is also an official member of NSE's consultative committee for growing business.
