Ron Hammond is Director of Government Relations for the Blockchain Association, the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a pro-innovation policy environment for the digital asset economy. Prior to joining the Blockchain Association, he was Manager of Government Relations at Ripple, a provider of enterprise-grade, cryptocurrency and blockchain solutions. Ron’s background in crafting a bipartisan crypto regulatory framework via legislation dates back to 2016 when he served as the Financial Services Policy Lead for Rep. Warren Davidson. During his tenure at Capitol Hill, he authored several pieces of legislation including the Token Taxonomy Act, Federal Reserve Regulatory Oversight Act, and the Derivatives Fairness Act. Before that, he was the Campaign Manager for three successful Texas State Senate races.

EARLY CAREER
Under Rep. Davidson, Ron served under the House Financial Services Committee, Capital Markets SubCommittee, and Oversight Committee.
He also coordinated educational briefings for Members of Congress, staff, and regulators regarding digital assets with various organizations.
He brought in regulatory heads at the CFTC, FinCen, Federal Reserve, and SEC regarding legislative proposals on financial services, digital assets, and blockchain.
Ron spearheaded the bipartisan Token Taxonomy Act, the first bipartisan bill to regulate cryptocurrencies as they apply to financial services.
He stated that the act aimed to provide regulatory clarity around different types of crypto assets — securities and commodities — by clearing up the jurisdiction of the SEC and CFTC.
