Anirban Mahanti is the Director of Research for Motley Fool Australia, leading a team of uber smart analysts, with the goal of helping Australians invest better. Initially working as a Portfolio Manager for the Motley Fool Pro service, he later on transitioned to the Million Dollar Portfolio and Share Advisor services, and helped launch Motley Fool Extreme Opportunities in 2017. Anirban is an Information Technology expert by training, with technical expertise at the intersection of computer networking, data science, and machine learning. Prior to joining Motley Fool, he held various roles at NICTA, a leading Australian Information Communications Technology research center.
A Fool since 2011, Anirban became a full-time analyst in 2015, and has contributed to Motley Fool’s Pro, Million Dollar Portfolio, and Share Advisor services.
Motley Fool Extreme Opportunities is a service that takes a venture capital approach to investing in the public market by focusing on small cap companies on the ASX.
In his research career, Anirban has invented new technologies, co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed research papers, supervised PhD and MSc students, and consulted for large technology firms.
Before NICTA, Anirban was an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary in Canada, and then at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
