Telecommunications, also known as telecom, covers information-transmitting technologies including telephones, microwave communications, fiber optics, satellites, radio and television broadcasting, the internet, and telegraphs. Highly sensitive to the slightest change in regulatory, technological, and economic factors, the telecommunications sector also faces challenges in globalization trends. Although individual stocks can be quite volatile, the telecom sector overall has exhibited stable long-term growth, with three basic sub-sectors: telecom equipment, telecom services, and wireless communication.
