EARLY CAREER
Bill Barhydt’s career began at the highest levels of U.S. government research, where he served as a research engineer for the CIA in the Office of Scientific and Weapons Research and subsequently at NASA.
Following his government service, Barhydt became an early team member at Netscape, where he played a pivotal role in building the core infrastructure of the consumer internet.
His contributions at Netscape included the initial design and deployment of SSL and the X.509 digital certificate standard, security protocols that remain fundamental to global web privacy today.
Before founding Abra, Barhydt established himself as a champion for financial inclusion through Boom Financial, a mobile banking service he led as Founder, CEO, and President to serve unbanked communities in the U.S. and Latin America.
A committed mentor within the startup ecosystem, he has also served as an Advisor at Boost VC, where he provided strategic guidance to dozens of angel-stage companies.
