Anders Brownworth is a Senior Research Advisor to the Digital Currency Initiative, a part of the MIT Media Lab focusing on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. He is also Head of Research and Development for Radius, a provider of industrial-scale on-chain infrastructure. Prior to the DCI, Anders worked at the Federal Reserve managing engineering for Project Hamilton, a joint research effort between the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and MIT's Digital Currency Initiative. Before that, he was a Senior Software Engineer and Chief Evangelist at Circle, where he played an integral role in designing and launching the USDC stablecoin.
Anders was an early employee of Circle where he worked as a Senior Software Engineer.
He built a number of internal systems and the backend for Circle Trade, then one of the world's largest OTC players.
During his time at Circle, he co-taught the first blockchain class at MIT. He also created a blockchain explainer video with millions of views on YouTube.
He also helped create and launch USDC, one of the largest stablecoins in the world.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS CAREER
Anders helped create and launch Republic Wireless, a WiFi/cellular hybrid smartphone service.
He holds a number of patents in the telecom space and played a key role in Bandwidth.com’s evolution from startup to established industry player.
He created a real-time financial markets animation system for Dow Jones' on-air television station in New York.
