Bob Atchinson is the Co-Founder, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Adage Capital Management, a multi-billion money management firm with a primary focus on overseeing S&P 500 assets. At Adage, he is responsible for aerospace, machinery, conglomerate and electrical equipment industries. Atchinson is a prominent figure in the investment industry. He is known for his value investing approach and his successful track record at Harvard Management Company before founding Adage. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of the Select Equity Group at the Harvard Management Company. During his 10-year tenure at HMC, he managed the $5.4 billion domestic equity portfolio for the Harvard Endowment. Bob and his wife MIchelle have been involved with numerous charitable endeavors around Massachusetts and on Nantucket over the years.
They work with the Campaign for Catholic Schools in Dorchester and Brockton, as well as co-founding the Mike Toth Head and Neck Cancer Research Center at Massachusetts Eye and Ear in Boston.
On Nantucket, the Atchinsons are supporters of the Boys and Girls Club, NGC Children’s Charity, Strong Wings, the Nantucket Historical Association, and the Great Harbor Yacht Club Foundation.
They also served on the Strategic Advisory Committee for Upstream, a non-profit dedicated to empowering women to plan for pregnancies.
He is also part of the team that helped rebuild the Lower Mills Campus in Dorchester. He led the effort to rebuild Lincoln Fields in Lexington.
